Why Techno Needs to Be Nonprofit Again? Our Contribution with the Good2U Festival

We believe in an electronic music culture that grows out of community, free, in solidarity, and independent of commercial interests. Our work is guided by four core principles:

1. Quality over Clicks

Artists should be booked for their art and creativity, not for reach or follower counts. Techno was never mainstream. It has always been an expression of freedom, creativity, and attitude.

2. Community over Commerce

Techno was, and should once again be, a home for everyone. Exclusivity and commercialization are threatening to replace this idea. We create spaces where no one is left outside, regardless of money, status, or background. Places where music connects people again.

3. Values over Logos

Techno is counterculture, a symbol of diversity, equality, and resistance against discrimination. This subculture must not become a marketing tool. Its values must be lived. Through our work, we want to pass on the values of inclusion, anti-racism, and openness to young people.

4. Openness over Rise of the far right

At a time when far-right movements are getting louder, we need platforms that embody diversity, tolerance, and solidarity, while offering perspectives for young people. Culture, especially electronic culture, can do this: it brings people together, breaks down fears, and shows that diversity is strength.

To keep these values alive, we will create spaces not only through the Good2U Festival, but also beyond, where music connects and community becomes reality.

How We as a Community Want to Contribute

Out of this conviction, our vision becomes practical work. We want to rethink techno in nonprofit terms and build structures that put music, community, and engagement at the center. Our work in Görlitz and beyond is based on six pillars:

Diversity & Representation

Diversity is not just a slogan, it is a stance. We put a clear focus on giving visibility to FLINTA*, BiPoC, and queer artists, fostering a scene that truly lives democratic values.

Year-Round Cultural Work & Education

We want to create learning and experience spaces where young people don’t just consume culture, but actively shape it. Through mentoring programs, workshops, and formats that strengthen democracy, we aim to support the scene and the region in the long term.

Supporting Emerging Artists

We support young artists from Germany and the Euroregion Neisse, give them a stage, and connect them with established acts. This creates space for experimentation, exchange, and long-term development.

Cultural Infrastructure for Görlitz & the Region

We are building sustainable structures that reach beyond the festival: places where electronic music culture remains tangible, talents can grow, and community can flourish.

Sustainability & Responsibility

We want to prove that festivals can be environmentally conscious: from resource-efficient production to local cooperation and a lived awareness of ecological responsibility. Sustainability concept: see our website under Good2Know → Sustainability.

Interdisciplinary Arts

Our program combines electronic music with other art forms such as light, graphics, photography, installations, film, performance, and industrial culture. These encounters create space for experimentation, dialogue, and new artistic visions.

Why Your Donation Matters

Good2U exists because many people contribute their time, knowledge, and passion to this project—voluntarily, out of conviction, and out of love for it.

But idealism alone is not enough. We need funding and donations to make this work possible in the long run.

Your donation helps ensure that Görlitz remains a place where:

  • music connects people who might otherwise never have met
  • young artists get fair opportunities and creative freedom
  • culture stays alive, diverse, and nonprofit

Every contribution, large or small, strengthens the future of a young cultural scene and shows:

Culture with integrity deserves support. Especially now, when independent culture is struggling, every donation counts.
